We’re excited to announce that WeAreWaterloo has won the Green Flag Community Award for 2024/25! This award celebrates our team’s hard work in making Waterloo cleaner and greener and, thanks to the amazing efforts of the Waterloo Green Group Events, such as ‘Rooted’ Gardening Club, ‘Edible Marsh’ workshops, and the Climate Action Group. These community-driven initiatives have played a pivotal role in enhancing our green spaces and promoting local engagement with environmental sustainability.
The Green Flag Award scheme stands as a recognied mark of excellence for well-managed parks and green spaces. It sets a benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor areas, not just in the United Kingdom but also around the world. Winning this award for the second year in a row highlights the BID’s exceptional efforts in maintaining and nurturing green spaces for the enjoyment and benefit of the community.
A huge shoutout to our greening team— Frances, Josè, Frankie and Alex —for transforming our public areas into inviting green spaces. Edible Marsh’s free gardening workshops have also been a hit, helping locals grow their own plants and making Lower Marsh even greener.
Winning the Green Flag Community Award for 2024/25 is a fantastic achievement that shows our community’s commitment to keeping Waterloo clean, green, and thriving.
