WATERLOO BEHIND THE SCENES

Dreamers, innovators, disruptors and free thinkers have laid claim to Waterloo for centuries, and this distinctive corner of South-East London remains known for its community spirit and defiance. Global corporations rub shoulders with pop-up studios and late-night bars, bringing diverse audiences to a destination that dares to be different.

At WeAreWaterloo, we want to support the people and businesses that give the neighbourhood its edge – whilst encouraging those from further afield to come and experience what we’re all about. In 2019, we launched a panel discussion series to provide a space to ask difficult questions. By facilitating thought-provoking conversations, we opened meaningful dialogues and fostered deeper connections.

Five years later, ‘Waterloo Behind the Scenes’ panellists (who include a mixture of local and industry experts) continue to delve into topical societal issues, share practical life hacks, and offer varied perspectives to help educate and inspire. Attendees are encouraged to step outside their comfort zone, consider new ideas, meet different types of people, and expand their horizons.

By gaining fresh insights (which might challenge their current opinions), guests should leave feeling empowered to engage more actively with the complexities of modern life. These (affordable) weekday evening talks are held in a different Waterloo location each time. They include a free drink on arrival, and the bar stays open afterwards to encourage further chats between panellists and guests.
