After months of searching for the perfect candidate, we are pleased to introduce WeAreWaterloo’s newest staff member, Business Security Manager, Karol Doherty.
Karol has an impressive CV which includes 5 years in the armed forces, security work at two other BIDs (Paddington and the New West End Company) and even managing the security of Westminster Cathedral during visits from Royals and even the Pope. He also has many relevant certifications including a Diploma in Security Management from The Security Institute and Level 5 Terrorism Awareness and Management from TINYg.
Karol joins the WeAreWaterloo team to oversee and expand the BID’s safety and security offering. He’ll be managing our Waterloo patrol, building partnerships with external security actors, analysing security intelligence and disseminating those insights with businesses. He will also be running a programme of free health and safety and security training workshops for Waterloo businesses and their staff. More information on these will be provided closer to the time.
Lastly, Karol will be organising a number of Business Security Forums designed to facilitate a dialogue between security professionals and the local business community and educate businesses on any relevant changes to security legislation. Keep an eye on the WeAreWaterloo Calendar to know when these are happening.
Karol’s also a huge golf fan, his favourite cuisine Indian and his favourite film (rather fittingly) is American Sniper. He’ll be introducing himself to Waterloo businesses over the next few months, so if you see him in the street or at one of our upcoming Christmas events feel free to say hi! If you have any other security-related questions, you can email him at karol@wearewaterloo.co.uk.
