Lambeth Council is transforming Hercules Road into a greener, more climate-resilient space in partnership with WeAreWaterloo BID and South Bank and Waterloo Neighbours Forum.

The project will replace parking areas with green spaces, cycle parking, seating, and room for people. Over a dozen new trees will also be planted to increase canopy cover and add more greenery to the area.

Community feedback showed strong support, with over 80% in favor of the plans. This transformation is part of the South Bank and Waterloo Net Zero 2030 Strategy,  a collaborative effort of the South Bank and Waterloo Sustains Us partnership involving Lambeth Council, South Bank and Waterloo Neighbours (SoWN), the WeAreWaterloo BID, South Bank BID, and South Bank Employers’ Group (SBEG).

The project is funded by Lambeth Council, WeAreWaterloo, and South Bank and Waterloo Neighbours, with additional support from the Mayor of London’s Air Quality Fund and the GLA’s Grow Back Greener Fund.

Stay tuned for updates!
