Join Eileen Perrier as she takes the audience on a journey through her career, spanning almost 30 years, from her degree show project from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design (now the University of the Creative Arts) to the present day. In this insightful talk, Eileen will discuss key projects and commissions that have defined her artistic trajectory. Starting with an intimate series centred around her family, and moving onto how her work has evolved to include significant community-based projects and portraiture, each project being connected by a common theme or thread. Eileen will also share her early reflections on the future of her extensive body of work, as she considers how best to archive and preserve it for posterity.

Speaker’s Biography

Eileen Perrier’s work has been widely exhibited since 1999 at prestigious venues such as The Photographers’ Gallery, Tate Britain, and The Whitechapel Gallery in London. Her work has also been part of the touring exhibition Africa Remix, showcased at the Hayward Gallery and The Centre Pompidou in Paris. Perrier has been an artist in residence at Light Work (in partnership with Autograph ABP) in New York and participated in Playing The City at Kunsthalle Schirn in Frankfurt. She has collaborated with Tate Britain on their education program and has notable commissions, including a portrait series for King’s College London and a double portrait for The Foundling Museum’s permanent collection. Most recently, her work was exhibited at Somerset House as part of The Missing Thread: Untold Stories of Black British Fashion.
