It was great to see so many people at our recent WeAreWaterloo events! From the London Festival of Architecture to our Pride & Prejudice panel discussion, these events showed that Waterloo is home to a huge number of passionate progressive voices eager to share their vision with the world. Below is a look back at these fantastic events:
Our recent series of events kicked off with a hugely insightful exploration into the intersection of faith and homosexuality. Drawing on the experiences of a multi-faith expert panel, attendees were treated to a challenging, nuanced and deeply personal discussion about how to balance conflicting identities. With touching moments of audience participation and conversations at the bar extending late into the evening, this niche yet necessary Pride event was a great success that continued Waterloo’s progressive past into the present day.
On Wednesday 28 June, 26 Leake Street hosted WeAreWaterloo and Build Studio’s London Festival of Architecture event focused on the ever-changing Waterloo area and how to place the community at the centre of its many upcoming developments. With representatives of the Waterloo Station Masterplan sharing the stage with non-profit leaders and local residents, this event facilitated essential discussions about a collaborative future for Waterloo.
Our inaugural in-person Climate Action Group was also held at The Three Stags on Thursday 29 June. This event allowed members of the Waterloo community to hear about the sustainability work of WeAreWaterloo and other key stakeholders as well as to share their own experiences and aspirations for climate action.
June’s edition of Lower Marsh Lates… at the Movies saw the classic cult chick flick, Mean Girls, screened on the market. With exclusive drinks offers from local businesses and traders selling a variety of unique products, the event substantially increased footfall on Lower Marsh and was well received by the local business community. Don’t miss the next Lower Marsh Lates event on Thursday 27 July where we’ll be screening Little Shop of Horrors.
