May is bringing longer evenings, plenty of sunshine (hopefully), and a great mix of events across Waterloo. From food and drink experiences to theatre and community moments, here’s what’s coming up this month.
Food & drink
There’s plenty to get stuck into this May.
On 13 May, head to The Walrus to celebrate World Cocktail Day with expertly mixed drinks and a lively atmosphere – the perfect midweek treat.
Over at Paladar, things get a little more special on 26 May (7pm) with a Panamanian culinary experience, hosted by the Embassy of Panama in London – a unique evening of food, culture and flavour. And if you’re looking for something more regular, wine tastings take place every Monday evening (6:30pm) – a great option for a relaxed date night or post-work catch-up.
Theatre & culture
There’s plenty for theatre lovers this month.
At the Young Vic, CARE, written and directed by Alexander Zeldin, runs across various dates in May – a powerful and thought-provoking production exploring human connection and care.
Over at Waterloo East Theatre, due to popular demand, extra performances have been added (8–10 May) for Thrill Me – The Leopold and Loeb Story. This gripping, intimate musical tells the true story of two young men whose dangerous obsession spirals into a shocking crime. With a tense atmosphere and razor-sharp storytelling, it’s a compelling watch and well worth catching while you can.
Nights out & local favourites
Vaulty Towers continues to be a go-to for a good night out, with its signature lively atmosphere and great drinks offering. Whether you’re heading out midweek or planning a weekend catch-up, it’s always worth a visit.
Circe’s Rooftop is launching a series of summer takeovers, bringing curated cocktails, live DJs and unbeatable sunset views to Waterloo. Kicking things off on 23 May, the Bacardi Rooftop Takeover promises elevated drinks, great music and the kind of atmosphere you won’t want to leave.
Round up your crew, join the guest list and get ready to do summer properly – rooftop style.
New to the ‘Loo
When something new lands in Waterloo, it’s always worth knowing about – and this month, it’s a good one for food.
Noma has recently opened on The Cut, bringing something fresh to the area, with Pho also set to open there soon.
And over on Lower Marsh, Chango Empanadas are getting ready to join the line-up – another great addition to Waterloo’s independent scene.
A few new spots to have on your radar…
Whatever you’re in the mood for this May, Waterloo’s got you covered – from culture and community to great food, drink and rooftop moments.
