What’s On in Waterloo: May 2025 Edition

It’s May in Waterloo, and you know what that means — longer days, warmer weather, and a jam-packed calendar of amazing local events. From rooftop ABBA brunches to community gardening clubs, there’s something happening around every corner of our vibrant neighbourhood. Whether you’re here for the culture, cocktails or a bit of both — we’ve got you covered.

Here’s what’s coming up this month:

Mamma Mia Brunch at Circe’s | Various Dates

Get ready to say “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” to the ultimate ABBA rooftop party. Circe’s is bringing you an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza with a live cast of West End stars, two hours of immersive music, killer views, and enough Prosecco to keep your vocal cords nicely warmed up.

Your ticket includes:

  • A delicious 2-course brunch
  • 90 minutes of drinks (cheers to that)
  • ABBA-solutely top-tier entertainment

ROOTED Gardening Club | 7 May (and monthly through October)

Our much-loved ROOTED Lunchtime Gardening Club is back in bloom. Join fellow locals as we green up Waterloo, one planter at a time. Whether you’ve got a green thumb or just want to escape your desk for an hour, come dig in.

Rotating locations: Emma Cons Gardens & Hercules Road

1–2 PM | Free lunch market voucher for volunteers

The Brightening Air at The Old Vic | Various Dates

A haunting and beautiful world premiere from award-winning writer Conor McPherson. Set in a decaying Irish farmhouse, this gripping family drama explores memory, fate, and unseen forces. Featuring a brilliant cast including Chris O’Dowd, it’s one not to miss.

An Oak Tree at Young Vic | Various Dates

One play, one hypnotist, and one actor who hasn’t read the script. Seriously. Each performance stars Tim Crouch alongside a surprise guest (yes, actually a surprise). Expect bold, bizarre, and breathtaking storytelling with stars like Jessie Buckley, Mark Gatiss, Indira Varma, and more.

Newcomers Coffee at Oasis Waterloo | 5 May

New to the area or just curious about the local community? Oasis is hosting a relaxed meet-and-greet with their leadership team over coffee before the Sunday service. Swing by and say hello.

A Very Vaultsy Pub Quiz at Vaulty Towers | Every Monday

Hosted by the fabulous Amy Bee Sting, this chaotic, colourful quiz night gives you the chance to win a £100 bar tab.

Arrive from 7pm, quiz starts at 7:30.

Doodle & Drink at The Three Stags | 12 May

Join local artist Kes and drag chaos queen Boo for a no-pressure creative session that’s all about fun, cocktails, and zero judgement. Expect plenty of laughs, bold strokes, and possibly glitter.

The Pride at Network Theatre | 14 May

Spanning two eras, this powerful play reflects on how attitudes to identity and sexuality have evolved. Intimate, moving, and deeply human.

Transforming Hercules Road | 15 May

We’re throwing a street-side celebration to show off the latest phase of Waterloo’s greening efforts. Expect free pottery with Mud Gang, gorgeous blooms, and nibbles from Eden Caterers.

Location: Hercules Road | From 12pm

Yvonne’s 17th Birthday Charity Gala at 1901 Arts Club | 14 May

7 Star Arts presents an eclectic evening of music, words, and performance to celebrate 17 years of unique storytelling. Come for the culture, stay for the cake (probably).

Grab your diaries, get your mates involved, and let’s make the most of everything our brilliant neighbourhood has to offer.
