Looking for a lunch break that actually feels like a break? From April, our popular lunchtime sessions are back – giving Waterloo workers a reason to step away from their desks, get outdoors and be part of something positive happening right on their doorstep.
Rooted returns as our friendly, hands-on gardening sessions, bringing people together to care for local green spaces across Waterloo. Last year, Rooted grew into a brilliant little community – regular volunteers, new faces, chats over watering cans, and visible improvements to planting beds and public spaces. It became a go-to way to reset in the middle of the workday, meet people from other local businesses and do something good for the area at the same time.
Sessions take place 1-2pm, alternating between Hercules Road and Emma Cons Gardens, and we’re excited to grow the Rooted community even further this year. Plus, you’ll receive a free Lower Marsh Market lunch voucher when you come along!
Rooted 2026 dates (first Thursday of each month):
2 April – Hercules Road
7 May – Emma Cons Gardens
4 June – Hercules Road
2 July – Emma Cons Gardens
6 August – Hercules Road
3 September – Emma Cons Gardens
1 October – Hercules Road
5 November – Emma Cons Gardens
3 December – Hercules Road
Sign up via the Eventbrite link – come along for as long as you can, it doesn’t have to be the full hour, then grab yourself some lunch on Lower Marsh afterwards
Alongside Rooted, Edible Marsh is back as a Lower Marsh Market–led programme, focusing on edible planting and seasonal, hands-on workshops right in the heart of the market on Lower Marsh. It’s another great way to learn something new, support the local environment and spend your lunch break doing something a bit different.
Edible Marsh sessions take place 12-2pm on Lower Marsh Market:
Wednesday 29 April
Tuesday 26 May
Tuesday 30 June
Wednesday 29 July
Tuesday 25 August
Wednesday 30 September
Tuesday 27 October
Wednesday 25 November
Tuesday 29 December (Tentative)
Both programmes are free to join and open to people working in Waterloo. Spaces can fill up, so be sure to sign up in advance.
