Rethinking waste in Waterloo

What could your business do to reduce waste?

WeAreWaterloo is exploring how we can evolve our existing waste and recycling offer to help Waterloo businesses reduce waste, lower costs and make better use of the resources they already have.

Rather than thinking about waste only when it reaches the bin, we want to explore what could happen further upstream – reducing what we buy and use, finding new uses for things we already have, repairing rather than replacing, sharing resources and where waste remains, making sure it is recycled effectively.

This approach can be summed up simply:

REDUCE – REUSE – REPAIR – SHARE – RECYCLE

There may be opportunities for businesses to cut disposal costs, avoid unnecessary purchases, make better use of surplus materials and work together to share resources and solutions.

As part of this work, WAW will be bringing businesses together in November for the Waterloo Waste Challenge – a practical session to identify the biggest challenges, develop ideas and help shape the next generation of WAW’s waste and resource offer.

Could your business help us rethink waste in Waterloo?
