Welcome to Planets, Morley College London's Festival of Arts and Culture 2018

Visit Planets to feel magic, the mystic and jollity through engagement with dance, poetry, music, film, theatre, science, fashion, art, and design.

Morley's former Director of Music, Gustav Holst, composed the orchestral piece The Planets a century ago. This year, the Festival of Arts and Culture includes two performances of Holst's orchestral suite as well as a exhibitions inspired by the solar system. As The Planets associated peace, magic, the mystic, and jollity with the solar system, Morley College hopes this year's festival will bring the same associations to its visitors.

Some highlights of the festival include Turner Prize-winning artist Elizabeth Price's video installation The TeachersDr Javier Cuadros' lecture on Mars, Morley's Annual Catwalk Show, The Instant Orchestra's Art Night show, poetry readings hosted by Tower of London's 2018 Poet in Residence Inua Ellams, and a film screening of In The Bleak Midwinter followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Tony Palmer.

"I'm very excited to be showing at Morley College London for two reasons: the institution's longstanding commitment to experimental art and music, and its enduring optimism regarding the civic benefits of an artistic education. It's the perfect context for The Teachers." -Turner Prize-winning artist Elizabeth Price
