Barca or Bust!
Thanks to our involvement on The BID Foundation Council, our Chief Executive, Natalie Raben, was recently invited to Barcelona, Spain to present on a BID-focused panel during the annual event Setmana del Comerç (Trade Week)
As Catalonia gears up for introducing legislation surrounding BID-like organizations, they are looking to European partners to learn more on best practices. WeAreWaterloo was thrilled to have this opportunity to learn from peers while sharing more on the history of the BID with this international audience.
The presentation focused on how the BID came to be and what types of lessons were learned along the way. This was a great opportunity to showcase all of the wonderful work taking place in Waterloo including the ideas for project concepts that can be applied in BIDs of any size and shape including Community Events, Corporate Social Responsibility, Partnerships, and Placemaking.
Additional panelists included representatives from Camden Town Unlimited and Hamburg, Germany's Department of urban development and housing.
