New Bakerloop Express Service Launches with Free Travel Week

A brand-new express bus service, BL1 “Bakerloop”, officially launched on 27 September 2025, linking Waterloo and Lewisham. To celebrate, travel will be free for the first week.

The service runs with fully electric buses and limited stops, calling at Elephant & Castle, Old Kent Road / Burgess Park, New Cross Gate, and Lewisham. With USB chargers, comfortable seating, and faster journey times, it’s designed to make cross-London travel easier and more sustainable.

Starting at Waterloo, the Bakerloop makes the area even more accessible for workers, visitors, and locals – connecting one of London’s busiest hubs with key South London neighbourhoods. It’s another reason Waterloo remains one of the best-connected parts of the city, whether you’re coming for business, shopping, or to explore Lower Marsh Market.

Free travel runs until 4 October 2025, after which normal pay-as-you-go fares apply.
