Reimagining the River

This half-day event will bring together local residents, landowners, stakeholders, and community representatives to think about the future of the Thames riverside in South Bank and Waterloo, particularly in light of the need to raise flood defences throughout the Thames Estuary in response to rising sea levels. This could require some stretches of our river wall to be raised by around half a metre by 2050, which may impact our connection to the river, as well as the future development of the riverside.
The session will include:
  • An introduction to the recent history of the South Bank riverfront from David Sweetland (A London Inheritance)
  • Updates from Environment Agency, Thames Estuary Partnership and Local Authorities on riverside plans and policies
  • River regeneration precedents from Ole Schrøder of THIRD NATURE, sharing inspiring examples from cities internationally
  • A chance to discuss and contribute to a collective vision for the riverside in South Bank
There are a limited number of places available, and we are expecting high demand for tickets, so please do sign up if you are able to join us.
