A Bespoke Rose for a Vital Cause

This Wednesday, between 11-3pm, you’ll find Oasis Hub Waterloo on Lower Marsh selling their bespoke Hope Roses – pop down on your lunch break, pick one up, and support a vital cause.

Each rose costs £20, and every one supports Oasis’s vital work with children, young people and families affected by violence – including the Navigators team based right here at St Thomas’.

What’s the Hope Rose?

Across the UK, almost half a million children are affected by violence. It impacts their sense of safety, their mental wellbeing and their futures. Oasis’s mission is for every child to thrive, reach their full potential and live securely.

That belief inspired the Oasis Hope Rose.

This June, pallets of bespoke Hope Roses – grown and farmed by Harkness Roses in partnership with Arden Lea Nurseries – are travelling from Manchester to Birmingham to London, to be delivered to select Oasis Hubs across the country. Oasis Hub Waterloo is one of them, receiving 150 roses to share with the local community. Each rose represents the children the campaign supports, and funds are split 50/50 between local work and Oasis’s wider community support across the UK.

Where to find the roses this week

– Lower Marsh Market – Wednesday 3 June, 11-3pm. Pop down on your lunch break and take a rose home.

– Making Space for Women – Tuesday 2 June, 5-6:30pm, Build Studios.

The work the roses fund

Oasis Hub Waterloo is part of a wider Oasis charity that works as part of an eco-system of care across the UK – connecting education, housing, youth work, family support, safeguarding and community relationships.

Locally, their Navigators team works in St Thomas’ Hospital supporting young people who arrive in A&E after violence, a moment Oasis describe as “a critical turning point” for the young person and their family. The team also support parents and carers, run violence reduction programmes in schools, and partner with police, health services and community organisations to identify risks early and intervene before harm occurs.
