Waterloo's favourite independent shop

Rivers Remedies is voted number one for Waterloo shopping.

A WeAreWaterloo.co.uk poll has revealed the area's most-loved independent shop is Rivers Remedies.

The natural beauty and healthcare shop on Lower Marsh - formerly known as Waterloo Body Station - beat some extremely stiff competition from fellow Waterloo independents.

It won by the narrowest of margins over i Knit London, which finished second. Greensmiths, Radio Days and Twice the Siren came third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Customers voted for the shop for a range of reasons including friendly service and the quality of its products.

Competition prize winner Sinead McGarvey said simply "great service, great ethos, great products" when describing why she had voted for Rivers Remedies. Sinead will now be given a £100 voucher for the shop.

Rivers Remedies owner Rebecca Rivers said: "I'm thrilled to have won. It's so great that our lovely customers have voted for us.

"We're especially pleased given that Waterloo has such a superb range of independent retailers. Thank you so much to our fans!"

Rebecca's plans for the shop include building on the success of the launch of its own-range of  scented candles and incense sticks and continuing to provide top quality treatments in its therapy rooms.

Other businesses which were very popular with shoppers were Coopers and Floramay.

ScooterCaffe, Silver Witch, The Toolshop, Bankside Cafe, The Book Warehouse, Freshcut, The Hub Cafe, Ian Allan, Konditor & Cook, Marie's Cafe, Mail Boxes Etc and Cafe Pronto also received votes.
