London’s Largest Advent Calendar

Lower Marsh has fallen into the festive spirit with model Christmas trees now sprouting from shops and stalls.

Throughout December the wooden trees will be popping up in select locations on the street, with the shops housing them encouraged to offer giveaways or discounts on selected calendar days.

The scheme is the brainchild of the Assemble & Join team, which is based on Lower Marsh.

They say the project – which they have dubbed “London’s Largest Advent Calendar” – will help to highlight the fantastic businesses on the street.

Theo Adamson, from Assemble & Join said: “We wanted to do something special for Lower Marsh over the festive period which would help attract people to the street during what is a key time for many businesses.

“We put our heads together and came up with the idea of making Lower Marsh “London’s Biggest Advent Calendar”.

“We have given a number shops and market stalls a wooden Christmas tree with a number, made in the A&J workshop on Lower Marsh, to put outside their business.

“Essentially each of the businesses has become one of the 24 doors making up the advent calendar.

“Businesses have also been encouraged to offer a small gift or incentive on their chosen day, for passers-by.”

Businesses involved in the scheme include Phillips Framing at The Gallery, Ecco, Rivers’ Remedies, What The Butler Wore, Cubana, Greensmiths, The Toolshop, Housewares, South Bank Cards, Café del Marsh, The Walrus and I Knit London.

Market stalls supporting the promotion include O Toma O Morte, Hope Floats London, Charles Blair, Finest Fusion and Dave’s Fruit & Veg stall.
