Until Sunday 23rd Sep 2018
The Green House at 1 Pontypool Place is a family home designed by Deborah and Michael Johnson, completed in 2017 above their architecture and landscape studio. It is a contemporary rooftop extension to a Victorian warehouse with an expansive roof garden and friendly dog. Constructed largely in brick and zinc, with an almost completely glazed roof-top kitchen all linked by a slender metal staircase. The studio below is open with an exhibition detailing the background to the design and build, including handmade pottery by Ceramicist Chris Prindl who made bespoke fittings for the house.
The studio will also be open throughout the weekend, where there will be a small exhibition about the house and our other projects, enabling visitors to see the house and understand the design. Visitors for the house are welcome to come into the Studio where they will be given a ticket for their pre-booked tour, and visitors who haven’t pre-booked will be allocated spare tour slots. Weather/numbers permitting, visitors will spend 10 minutes or so in the garden after the tour with the designers/owners. Visitors are welcome to spend further time in the studio and there are WC facilities available, not in the house. (In the event of rain, the garden will not be open.)
Pre-booked on Eventbrite or with the studio
Please sign in/present your Eventbrite ticket at the Studio – Purple Door on the Alleyway
Please make yourself known to our volunteers or staff, who will do their best to get you on a tour
NB: All visitors to the house will be asked to wear overshoes before going upstairs. The house is arranged on the first and second floors with stair access only.
