Mum's the Word: Mother's Day at Wahaca

Treat your mum to a free margarita when you book at table at Wahace this Mother's Day by quoting the secret password “Mum’s the word”… in the special requests when making a booking, or to their waiter when ordering. If she’d prefer, she can swap it for a glass of wine, beer or soft drink to suit the mood on her special day. Book here.

MasterChef winner Thomasina Miers takes on Waterloo foodies the Mexican way.

Celebrity chef Thomasina Miers and her business partner Mark Selby opened this 10th Wahaca restaurant in June 2013 having had long-term links with Waterloo through a temporary structure on the Southbank.

The result is a comfortable, no-need-to-book eaterie with astonishingly good tacos and astonishingly good prices.

And while the flavour authenticity comes straight from the bustling markets of the area after which the restaurant is named, you can rest assured the food is locally sourced.

Our recommendation; try the salmon tostados with a glass of Mezcal (a superior agave spirit).

Our little known fact about Wahaca:
Ordering certain dishes on the Wahaca menu will see contributions made to UNESCO charity EDNICA, which educates Mexican children whose parents live on the street about nutrition, technology and morals. You can read more about EDNICA here.
