With the weather getting warmer, why not swap the sticky tube for a sunny cycle?

For those wanting to get back on the bike or for anyone that cycles in the Waterloo area, this summer we are hosting FREE lunchtime bike maintenance sessions on Lower Marsh. Hosted by a qualified Dr. Bike mechanic, these pop-up events allow local cyclists to get their bikes fixed for free as well as to learn the skills to fix basic issues themselves.

Increasing active transport in Waterloo is a key priority of the BID, therefore we are constantly looking for ways to make cycling and walking easier for those that live, work and study here. As part of our active transport promotion, we’ve also worked with Lambeth Council to increase secure cycle parking in the area as well as to install a multi-functional bike maintenance stand on The Cut which includes a pump, Allen keys and various other tools.

These Dr. Bike pop-up events will take place on Lower Marsh Market:

  • Wednesday 19 July (12-2:30pm)
  • Wednesday 23 August (12-2:30pm)
  • Wednesday 20 September (12-2:30pm)

The sessions will operate on a first-come-first-served basis, however, you can reserve yourself a maintenance space by clicking here.

We are always looking for ways to support businesses to embrace active transport. That’s why we’re helping businesses with on-street parking to turn that kerbside space into bike storage facilities. Therefore, if you have a request for more cycle storage outside your business, we’d be happy to assist you with this. Simply email Alex to enquire about this form of support.

Lastly, we have recently invested in a community cargo bike which can be used by local businesses and community organisation for a range of transportation needs. Capable of carrying 100kg cargo, this service is ideal for businesses that need to complete short deliveries without contributing to local carbon emissions. Once again, email Alex to discuss potential opportunities to use our cargo bike.
